Ten more patients have died of dengue fever in the last 24 hours, raising the country’s death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 302 this year, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported on Wednesday.
Among the fatalities, five were recorded in Dhaka South City Corporation, three in Dhaka North City Corporation, and one each in Khulna and Barishal divisions.
During the same period, 1,069 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals nationwide, bringing the total number of hospitalizations this year to 74,992.
Among the newly admitted patients, 403 were treated in hospitals across Dhaka city, 219 in other parts of Dhaka division, 128 in Barishal, 99 in Chattogram, 68 in Khulna, 70 in Mymensingh, 34 in Rajshahi, 43 in Rangpur, and 5 in Sylhet.
The DGHS urged the public to remain vigilant, take preventive measures to curb mosquito breeding, and seek immediate medical attention if dengue symptoms appear.
