The number of dengue cases in the country has climbed to 59,147 this year, while no dengue deaths were reported in the 24 hours to Friday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest DGHS data showed that 747 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country during the period, while 746 patients recovered and were discharged.
With no new deaths reported, the dengue death toll remained at 176 this year.
The figures were released in a press statement issued by the DGHS Health Emergency Operations Centre and Control Room on Friday.
Currently, 4,133 dengue patients are receiving treatment at hospitals across the country, while 54,838 patients have recovered and returned home since 1 January.
Of the 747 new patients admitted in the past 24 hours, 505 were men and 242 were women.
Hospitals outside the city corporations in Dhaka division recorded the highest number of new admissions, with 216 patients. Dhaka North City Corporation reported 80 admissions and Dhaka South City Corporation 52.
Khulna division recorded 81 new patients, Mymensingh 91, Chattogram 61, Rangpur 52 and Barishal 15.
Of the 59,147 dengue patients reported this year, 36,876, or 62.6 per cent, were men, while 22,030, or 37.4 per cent, were women.
However, women accounted for a higher share of deaths. Of the 176 dengue deaths recorded this year, 92 were women and 83 were men, according to the DGHS data.
Dengue transmission has intensified sharply in September.
In the first 18 days of the month, 23,301 cases and 79 deaths were reported, making it the worst month so far this year in terms of both cases and deaths.
In August, 20,536 cases and 43 deaths were recorded, while July saw 9,206 cases and 36 deaths.
