Six more people died of dengue in the country in the past 24 hours, while 1,655 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
All six deaths were reported from areas outside city corporations in Rajshahi Division, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest fatalities have taken the dengue death toll to 190 this year.
The figures were released in the DGHS’s daily dengue bulletin issued by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room on Monday.
Chattogram recorded the highest number of new hospital admissions during the 24-hour period, with 314 patients.
It was followed by Dhaka Division, excluding city corporation areas, with 281 admissions, Khulna with 271 and Barishal with 217.
Dhaka South City Corporation recorded 167 new admissions, while 166 patients were admitted in areas under Dhaka North City Corporation.
Rajshahi Division reported 146 new patients, while Mymensingh, Rangpur and Sylhet recorded 43, 41 and nine admissions respectively.
Among the 1,655 newly hospitalised patients, 1,019 were men and 636 were women. Meanwhile, 1,428 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals after receiving treatment during the same period.
Since 1 January, a total of 63,627 dengue patients have been hospitalised nationwide up to 21 September, DGHS data showed.
Of them, 39,687 were men and 23,699 were women.
The disease has claimed 190 lives so far this year, including 96 men and 93 women. A total of 59,038 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
Dhaka Division, excluding city corporation areas, has recorded the highest number of dengue hospitalisations this year, with 10,662 cases.
Khulna Division follows with 10,466 admissions, while Chattogram and Barishal have reported 9,153 and 8,838 cases respectively.
DSCC and DNCC have recorded 7,616 and 7,317 hospitalisations respectively.
DSCC has reported the highest number of dengue deaths, with 53 fatalities, followed by Khulna Division with 34.
September has recorded the highest number of dengue hospitalisations so far this year.
According to the DGHS, 27,781 patients have been admitted to hospitals this month, while 93 people have died of dengue.
