Singer Sabrina Nowshin Tushi, from Narayanganj, has emerged as a popular voice among the younger generation. Her singing once impressed legendary South Asian singer Runa Laila, and Tushi has continued her musical journey carrying that encouragement with her.
Recently, Tushi appeared on two different programmes on two television channels on the same day. She joined Banglavision’s Din Protidin for a conversation and informal chat. The programme will be aired soon.
On the same day, she also appeared on Ekushey Television’s Gaaner Opare, where she performed four songs. Her selections included Sabina Yasmin’s Jonom Jonom Dhore Prem Piyasi and Shomoy Hoyechhe Phire Jabar, as well as Chitra Singh’s Mone Koro Jodi Shob Chhere Hay and Tumi Eshe Amar Mone Phagun Jagale.
Tushi lost her father a few days ago. Although the loss has disrupted the rhythm of her life, she is trying to cope with the grief.
She previously consulted her father before making decisions on various matters, but now she turns to her mother for guidance. Her mother also accompanies her to different programmes and events.
“Alhamdulillah, things have been going quite well since I became the champion of Sherakontho. However, it is true that the number of shows has decreased significantly. It is not just me; no one has as many shows as before. I do not know when this difficult period will end. For us professional singers, stage shows are our main source of support. When opportunities in that area shrink, it is natural to feel disappointed. I have recently taken part in two different programmes on two channels, and I enjoyed both experiences. I hope the audiences will also like them when they are aired,” Tushi said.
Tushi will perform on Banglavision’s musical live programme Music Club on 23 September. She will also attend an awards ceremony on 30 September.
A new song titled Jan Pakhire Pran Pakhire featuring Tushi’s vocals is also set to be released soon. Shafik Tuhin and Plabon Qureshi wrote the lyrics, while Shafik Tuhin composed and arranged the music. He has also lent his voice to the song alongside Tushi.
Tushi won the top position in Channel i’s Sherakontho competition in 2023. During the grand finale, Runa Laila announced Tushi’s name first as the winner of the ‘Serader Sera’ title.
