Actor Bijoy Chowdhury, known for his role as Raees in ‘Hangor Nodi Grenade’, has been shifted to a general ward after suffering a heart attack.
Bijoy was initially admitted to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and Hospital in Dhaka on Thursday night after developing chest pain. His condition deteriorated after the heart attack and doctors placed him in the ICU.
According to his wife, Salma Chowdhury, his condition has since improved somewhat and he has now been moved to a general ward.
Bijoy had travelled to Singair in Manikganj with his wife on Thursday to attend a family event. He developed chest pain while returning from the event and was taken to the hospital, where doctors confirmed that he had suffered a heart attack.
His daughter, Fiona Chowdhury, has meanwhile asked everyone to pray for his recovery.
“Everyone please pray for my father. May Allah grant him a speedy recovery and protect him from all dangers and difficulties. I sincerely request everyone to pray for him,” she wrote in a social media post.
Bijoy gained widespread recognition for playing Raees in ‘Hangor Nodi Grenade’. Directed by Chashi Nazrul Islam, the 1997 film was based on Selina Hossain’s novel of the same name and remains a notable work of Bangladeshi cinema.
