Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain on Saturday said Muslims worldwide would unite to resist any threat or attack on the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.
He said Muslims would, if necessary, sacrifice their lives to protect the dignity and sanctity of the two holy cities.
Kaikobad made the remarks in a statement protesting threats and attempted attacks targeting Makkah and Madinah.
The minister said Makkah Al-Mukarramah and Madinah Al-Munawwarah were the most sacred places of worship for Muslims worldwide and held a special place in the faith, emotion and love of the Muslim Ummah.
He said any attack, aggression or security threat against the two holy cities was unacceptable.
Expressing support for statements by the two Imams of Al-Haramain in Makkah and Madinah, Kaikobad said protecting the sanctity and security of the holy cities was a collective responsibility of the Muslim Ummah.
He said Muslims around the world would unite to resist any aggression or conspiracy against the holy land.
The minister said the people of Bangladesh would not compromise on the security, dignity and sanctity of Makkah and Madinah.
He urged Muslim countries and the global Muslim community to overcome divisions and unite to face any present or future threat or attempted attack against the two holy cities.
