The Sylvia Mahajabin Memorial FIDE Rapid Women’s Chess Tournament will begin on Friday at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hall room in Dhaka. The event is being jointly organised by the Bangladesh Chess Federation and the Neamul Chess Academy, USA.
The competition, dedicated to encouraging women’s participation in chess, is open to all female and girl players across the country. Interested participants can register directly at the venue before the start of play by submitting their names along with the prescribed entry fee.
The tournament will follow the Swiss League format, featuring eight rounds of rapid play to determine the winners. A total of Taka 30,000 in cash prizes will be distributed among the top performers.
The organisers expect a strong turnout of both young and experienced players as part of their continued effort to promote women’s chess in Bangladesh and honour the memory of Sylvia Mahajabin.
