Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has issued directives to modernise traffic management and alleviate congestion within Dhaka city.
The meeting was held at the premier’s Cabinet Division office in the Bangladesh Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon.
On the first working day following the Eid holidays, Tarique placed significant emphasis on several key issues, specifically convening the meeting to address the “alleviation of traffic congestion and modernisation of traffic management in Dhaka city”.
Earlier in the day’s programme, Krishna Srinivasan, Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Asia and Pacific Department, paid a courtesy call to the prime minister. Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury was present at the meeting.
According to Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon, the prime minister arrived at his Secretariat office at 9:01 am, having departed from his Gulshan residence at 8:40 am. Upon arrival, he exchanged Eid greetings with officers and staff before commencing his official duties.
Others who exchanged Eid greetings with the prime minister included Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Ariful Haque Chowdhury, State Minister for Civil Aviation Rashiduzzaman Millat, PM’s Advisor Mahdi Amin, Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani, and PM’s Principal Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar, alongside various secretaries and senior officials
