The government has rolled out awareness programmes across the country to clarify issues surrounding the upcoming referendum. Field-level officials, religious leaders, and representatives from various private organisations will be trained to ensure grassroots understanding of the process.
As part of the initiative, separate conferences for divisional officials and imams were held in Barishal on Sunday. Professor Ali Riaz, special assistant to the chief adviser, and fellow Special Assistant Monir Haidar delivered training-focused speeches at the events. Similar programmes will be held in all other divisions in the coming days.
Under the supervision of the Chief Adviser’s Office, divisional commissioners are organising training for government officials and NGO representatives, while the Islamic Foundation is arranging sessions for imams and religious leaders.
According to the programme schedule, divisional-level imam conferences and views exchange meetings will be held on Monday in Rajshahi, 14 January in Rangpur, 15 January in Chattogram, 17 January in Dhaka, 19 January in Mymensingh, 22 January in Sylhet, and 24 January in Khulna.
Senior academics, journalists, press club leaders, business association representatives, NGO heads, civil society members, and other dignitaries will attend the events.
Officials said the meetings aim to mobilise stakeholders at divisional, district, and upazila levels to build widespread voter awareness on the referendum.
