At 84, Amitabh Bachchan still has one regret he has not been able to shake off — he never learnt music. The megastar recently opened up about his long-standing desire to learn music and play musical instruments.
According to The Indian Express, Bachchan made the revelation during an upcoming episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 18. He admitted that he still feels sad about not learning the art despite having a deep interest in it.
The revelation came during a light-hearted interaction with contestant Kritagya Nayyar, a content creator, who asked Bachchan to play the popular game ‘This or That’ on the show.
Kritagya first spoke about Bachchan’s contribution to Indian cinema and the country. He then explained that he wanted to play the game so he could make a reel and gain a few followers.
During the game, Kritagya asked Bachchan whether he would rather relive a day from his past or experience a day he had never lived but had always wished to.
Bachchan said there had been so many events in his life that he was unsure which day he would want to relive. He then turned to the second choice — experiencing a day he had never lived before.
That led him to his unfulfilled wish of learning music.
“Sir, I never learnt music, although I had a great desire to. When I see people playing musical instruments, the sitar, the harmonium, and singers, I feel very sad. When we listen to them, we wonder, ‘How can they sing so beautifully?’ These are things we never learnt,” he said.
Bachchan also revealed that he has collected musical instruments at home in the hope of learning someday. “At home, sir, we have collected and kept all the instruments that one would need to learn music. We even put a flower garland on them, saying that one day we will learn,” he said.
Reflecting on his age, the veteran actor added, “Now 84 years have passed, and I still haven’t learnt anything. That is something I feel very sad about.”
