Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has said formal implementation of the Teesta Master Plan will begin in 2027.
He made the remarks while addressing a gathering at Khuniagach SC High School ground in Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila on Saturday afternoon.
The event was organised to empower women, improve sports standards and build an “enlightened Lalmonirhat”.
Dulu said the government was actively working to implement the Teesta Master Plan, which he said would help address the long-standing problems faced by people living along the Teesta River and surrounding areas.
He also called for collective efforts to tackle social issues including drug abuse, gambling, child marriage and dowry.
At the event, 11 sewing machines and sports equipment were distributed among several educational institutions.
Besides, 750 flood- and river erosion-affected families received 20 kilograms of government relief rice each.
