Kylian Mbappe scored twice as Real Madrid beat Rayo Vallecano 4-1 in La Liga at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday.
Alvaro Carreras and Jude Bellingham also scored for Real Madrid. Sergio Camello pulled one back for Rayo in the second half.
Real took the lead after 14 minutes. Florian Lejeune brought down Carreras inside the box and the referee awarded a penalty. Mbappe stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to make it 1-0.
Real needed only three more minutes to double their lead. Lejeune played a poor back pass and Vinicius Junior took advantage. The Brazilian won the ball and found Carreras, who finished to make it 2-0.
Bellingham added the third in the 35th minute.
Vinicius raced down the left and sent the ball back into the middle. Bellingham arrived at the right time and finished past Emil Audero. Mbappe almost scored again before half time but his effort hit the post.
Rayo improved after the break. Pedro Diaz hit the post before Camello reduced the gap in the 51st minute. The goal came after Vinicius lost possession. Camello collected the loose ball and found the net to make it 3-1.
Rayo then created more chances as Real struggled to control the game. Thibaut Courtois denied Lejeune, while Giorgi Tsitaishvili headed over from a good position.
Real eventually ended any hope of a late comeback in stoppage time. Arda Guler played Mbappe through on the right. The French forward struck first time and found the far corner for his second goal of the night.
The 4-1 win gave Real Madrid another three points in La Liga, with Mbappe once again leading the attack.
