In the wake of recent attacks on Iran, Bangladesh has expressed deep concern over the safety and security of Bangladeshi nationals residing in the country and across the wider region.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the government is closely monitoring the evolving situation and remains particularly attentive to the wellbeing of Bangladeshi citizens living in areas affected by rising tensions.
Bangladesh warned that the continuation of hostilities would further endanger regional peace and stability, while putting civilian populations at greater risk.
“The continuation of hostilities will only endanger regional peace, stability, and the wellbeing of civilian populations,” the statement said, urging all concerned parties to exercise maximum restraint and return to diplomatic efforts to resolve their differences.
The government also condemned violations of the sovereignty of several countries in the region, including Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, stressing the importance of respecting international law and territorial integrity.
According to the foreign ministry, Bangladesh believes dialogue and diplomacy remain the only sustainable path toward resolving conflicts and preventing further escalation in the Middle East.
Dhaka expressed hope that calm would prevail at the earliest possible time and that peace, security and stability would soon be restored across the region.
The statement reaffirmed Bangladesh’s longstanding position in favour of peaceful resolution of disputes and respect for sovereignty, calling on all sides to prioritise de-escalation and constructive engagement.
