Prime Minister Tarique Rahman reached Dubai on Saturday night on his way home after a five‑day visit to New York for the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
An Emirates flight carrying the prime minister, his wife Zubaida Rahman and his delegation landed at Dubai International Airport at 8:23pm local time, Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shiplu said.
The aircraft will remain on the ground for about six hours before departing at 2am Sunday for Dhaka, where it is scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the morning.
Tarique left New York’s JFK Airport at 11:35pm Friday. He had travelled to New York on 21 September to attend the UNGA and delivered his maiden address as Prime Minister on 24 September.
During the visit, he met leaders of Türkiye, Iran, Pakistan, Croatia, Haiti, Bhutan and Thailand, as well as senior officials from Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Sweden.
He also held talks with UN Secretary‑General António Guterres, World Bank President Ajay Banga and other international figures on Bangladesh’s priorities, including trade, investment, the Rohingya crisis, climate change and global cooperation.
In his UNGA speech, Tarique outlined Bangladesh’s stance on peace, sustainable development and economic partnership, presenting the government’s three‑R plan — Recovery, Restoration and Reconstruction.
He also joined a JPMorgan‑hosted breakfast with Wall Street executives, urging investors to explore opportunities in Bangladesh.
