Five students suffered burn injuries after being electrocuted on the rooftop of a residential madrasa in Fatullah of Narayanganj.
They were admitted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
The incident took place around 4:30 pm on Saturday at Mahela Khatun Girls’ Madrasa in Hajipara area of Kashipur in Fatullah.
The injured students were identified as Jidni, 14, a Class VI student; Lamia Akter Shapla, 13, a Class IV student; Sumaiya Akter, 13, a Class VII student; Asiya Akter Afroza, 12, a Class III student; and Atia, 11, a Class IV student.
Madrasa cashier Md Yusuf said the five children were residential students of the institution and had gone to the rooftop of the three-storey building in the afternoon.
He said a loud sound was heard shortly afterwards. Madrasa staffs rushed to the rooftop and found the students with burn injuries.
The five were rescued and taken to a local hospital before being shifted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka for further treatment.
