Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has revoked an order cancelling the licence of Ad-Din Medical College Hospital in Moghbazar, permitting the facility to resume its operations.
This decision was made after a field inspection report from an investigation committee, which was formed following the deaths of six newborn babies, was deemed satisfactory. The ministry issued the approval subject to three specific conditions.
The Health Services Division (Private Health Management-2 branch) of the ministry communicated the decision on Monday through a letter signed by Secretary Md Kamruzzaman Chowdhury.
The hospital authorities had previously submitted an appeal and a detailed statement regarding the tragic incident involving the newborn deaths.
Following the appeal, an investigation committee was directed on 15 July 2026 to conduct a site visit and submit a report within three working days.
Upon reviewing the committee’s findings and considering them satisfactory, the government decided to withdraw the cancellation order and approve the resumption of hospital activities.
The resumption of operations is governed by three strict requirements. The hospital must ensure continuous compliance with the directives outlined in The Medical Practice and Private Clinics and Laboratories (Regulation) Ordinance, 1982.
Additionally, the facility is required to swiftly complete the process of appointing the necessary number of duty doctors and nurses as stipulated by the conditions of its licence.
Lastly, the government has clarified that the authorities reserve the right to take legal action at any time should the hospital fail to comply with the terms and conditions of its licence.
