Four suspected measles patients have died across Bangladesh in a 24-hour period, pushing the national measles death toll to 1,108.
According to a report released by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday, the four deaths occurred between 8am on 29 September and 8am on 30 September, with one fatality recorded in Dhaka, Sylhet, Chattogram, and Mymensingh respectively.
All four deceased individuals were classified as suspected measles patients.
With these latest fatalities, the total number of suspected measles deaths in the country has climbed to 1,007, alongside 101 confirmed measles deaths since 15 March.
During the same window, 1,221 new suspected cases and 128 confirmed measles cases were identified nationwide.
Dhaka reported the highest number of new suspected infections with 466 cases, followed by Chattogram with 262, Sylhet with 167, Barishal with 145, Mymensingh with 72, Khulna with 66, Rajshahi with 33, and Rangpur with 10.
Overall, between 15 March and 8am on 30 September, 191,731 suspected and 21,520 confirmed measles cases have been detected nationwide.
Out of the total suspected cases, 169,800 patients were hospitalised, whilst 162,873 recovered and were discharged from hospital.
Meanwhile, under the National Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign 2026, a total of 20,133,672 individuals have been vaccinated against an initial target of 18,015,064, achieving a overall coverage rate of 111.8 per cent.
