Three more children died with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours until 8am on Monday, taking the country’s combined tally of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 1,128 this year.
The Directorate General of Health Services said all three latest deaths were classified as suspected measles fatalities, while no confirmed measles deaths were reported during the period.
With the latest deaths, the number of suspected measles fatalities rose to 1,026, while confirmed deaths remained unchanged at 102.
The DGHS reported 1,296 new suspected measles cases during the 24-hour period, taking the cumulative number of suspected cases nationwide to 197,722.
Meanwhile, 60 new laboratory-confirmed measles cases were recorded, pushing the total number of confirmed infections to 21,808.
Since 15 March, a total of 175,336 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country, of whom 168,142 have recovered, according to the DGHS.
