Govt honours 102 eminent teachers on World Teachers’ Day

The government honoured 102 eminent teachers on Monday on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day 2026, recognising their contributions to education and nation-building.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman presented each teacher with a certificate, crest and cheque for Tk2 lakh at a ceremony organised by the Ministry of Education at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka in the afternoon.

World Teachers’ Day is being observed in Bangladesh, as elsewhere across the world, to recognise teachers’ contributions to nation-building and highlight the importance of ensuring their dignity, rights and professional development.

Of the 102 teachers honoured, 10 were from the primary level, 20 from the secondary level, 25 from colleges, 20 from general universities, 10 from medical colleges and universities, three from agricultural universities, three from engineering univ.ersities and four from other specialised universities.

Seven teachers selected by the prime minister were also among those honoured.
