South Asian Scholars’ School and College celebrated World Teachers’ Day on 5 October with tributes to educators, a cake-cutting ceremony and a ‘Teacher of the Month’ award programme, as students welcomed their teachers to the campus with warm greetings.
The institution said in a press release that the celebration was held in line with the theme, “Standing with teachers: 60 years of protecting the profession, advancing its status and shaping our future”, with Principal Farhana Reza and the institution’s teachers paying tribute to teachers around the world and expressing their love and gratitude towards them.
A cake was cut as part of the festivities, while the ‘Teacher of the Month’ ceremony recognised the outstanding contributions of teachers.
Farhana Reza and South Asian Scholars’ School and College Director Noor-e-Alam Azad presented certificates of appreciation to dedicated educators during the ceremony.
“Today, we pay tribute to those cherished individuals who transformed their profession into a beacon of light; by dispelling darkness with the light of knowledge, they guided us towards the right path,” Farhana said.
“Ideal teachers sow the seeds of patience, humanity and patriotism in our hearts, enabling us to learn how to live in this world with dignity,” she said.
Farhana said greater awareness was needed to uphold the professional dignity of teachers, something she said could be achieved not through a one-day formality but through daily practice.
