Kaisar Hamid has addressed speculation surrounding the political views of his daughter, late content creator and actor Kaarina Kaisar, saying she had no connection with any political party.
Speaking to reporters after Kaarina’s first funeral prayer in Dhaka on Sunday evening, the former national football star said his daughter did not support or engage in party politics.
“She was not involved with any political party,” Kaisar Hamid said. “However, she occasionally spoke about injustice on social media and created videos on such issues.”
Kaarina’s body arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Sunday afternoon after being flown from India, where she had been undergoing treatment in Chennai.
Following her arrival, her first funeral prayer was held after Maghrib prayers at Banani DOHS field in the capital. A third funeral prayer later took place at the Central Shaheed Minar. She was buried in Abdullahpur, Munshiganj, after another funeral prayer on Monday morning.
Kaisar Hamid also spoke emotionally about the public response following his daughter’s death, saying he had not realised how widely loved she was as a content creator.
“I felt proud after witnessing the affection and support shown by people across the country for my daughter,” he said.
Kaarina had been suffering from liver-related complications for an extended period. She died while receiving treatment at the Christian Medical College Hospital in Vellore, Chennai.
Hospital sources said her blood pressure dropped critically while antibiotics were being administered for a lung infection. Despite efforts by doctors, she could not be revived.
Doctors said complications caused by hepatitis A and E had led to liver failure. She was taken to Chennai by air ambulance last Monday after her condition deteriorated. Medical teams had been attempting to control the lung infection while preparing for a possible liver transplant.
Besides gaining popularity as a content creator, Karina was also known for her work as an actor and screenwriter. She received praise for her performances in the OTT series ‘Internship’ and ‘36-24-36’.
Kaarina’s death has prompted widespread grief across Bangladesh’s entertainment industry.
