Social Welfare Minister AZM Zahid Hossain has said Walton is manufacturing high-tech electronics and electrical products, including refrigerators, televisions, laptops and tablets, from components to finished goods.
“Walton products offer superior quality and durability at affordable prices. Alongside creating significant employment opportunities, Walton is also helping the country save substantial foreign currency through local production of technology products,” he said.
The minister made the remarks while visiting Walton Headquarters at Chandra in Gazipur on Tuesday evening. He witnessed manufacturing processes, solar power facilities and environmentally sustainable production practices, said a press release on Thursday.
The minister was welcomed by Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC Directors SM Rezaul Alam and SM Monjurul Alam Ovee.
He toured manufacturing facilities, including the PCB or motherboard production plant equipped with Surface Mount Technology (SMT) machines, and the country’s largest floating solar power plant installed at Walton Headquarters. He learned about the company’s technological excellence, quality control, research and development, and export activities.
Following the visit, Zahid Hossain said, “I previously had mixed perceptions about Walton. I used to think that Walton perhaps only assembled or reassembled products. But after visiting the factory today, my perception has completely changed. I am truly impressed.” He praised Walton’s use of renewable energy, calling it “a very good initiative.”
He also said the government has provided tax and policy support in the national budget for FY2026-27 to support domestic industrialisation.
