‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’ actor Ben Wang is in negotiations to play Iceman in Marvel Studios’ upcoming ‘X-Men’ reboot.

Variety reported, Wang is expected to portray Bobby Drake, also known as Iceman, one of the founding members of the X-Men. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in ‘The X-Men 1’ in September 1963.

If the deal goes through, Wang will join a cast that reportedly includes Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, Asa Germann as Angel, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier and Adam Driver as Mr Sinister.

Directed by Jake Schreier, whose credits include ‘Thunderbolts’, the film will be written by Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo. It marks the mutant team’s first reboot under Marvel Studios following Fox’s ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ (2019). The film is scheduled to hit theatres on 5 May 2028.

Wang will next appear in ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’, in which he plays Wyatt Callow, a tribute from District 12 alongside Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada.

His other credits include ‘The Long Walk’, the 2024 ‘Mean Girls’ reboot, ‘American Born Chinese’ and ‘Chang Can Dunk’.
