Police Week 2026 concluded with a reaffirmation of the law enforcement agency’s commitment to build a modern, people-friendly, and technologically advanced police force.
The four-day event, themed “My Police, My Country, Bangladesh First,” ended on Wednesday evening with a conference of retired and serving police officers at the Police Week venue.
The final day’s conference, held in a warm and cordial atmosphere, saw retired officers sharing their long career experiences and guidance with serving officers.
In turn, serving officers expressed their views on modernising the police, enhancing professional capabilities, and further commitments to people-oriented policing activities.
Key discussions held
Throughout various working sessions of Police Week, detailed discussions were held on maintaining law and order, crime suppression, strengthening cyber security, anti-narcotics activities, traffic management, community policing, and improving public service quality.
Special emphasis was placed on further strengthening police-public relations by increasing public trust and engagement.
On 10 May, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated Police Week by attending the annual police parade, followed by a speech to police officers and members.
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed and ministers from various ministries also spoke, providing guidance on building Bangladesh Police into a more modern and efficient force.
Multiple conferences of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) with field-level officers were also held during the week, where officers presented proposals to address field-level challenges, improve service quality, increase technology use, and enhance the force’s capabilities.
