For Adhora Khan, no actress has had a greater influence on her than internationally acclaimed Bangladeshi star Babita. The actress has admired Babita since childhood and considers her one of her biggest inspirations.
Speaking in Toronto, Adhora said Babita’s acting, expressions, smile, eyes, looks and personality deeply inspired her. She also feels a connection with Babita’s slim, delicate early screen image, which she says resembles her own current look.
“Since childhood, I have been a huge fan of Babita madam. You could say I am her biggest fan,” Adhora said.
Babita starred in Satyajit Ray’s Ashani Sanket, which won the Golden Bear at the 1973 Berlin International Film Festival. “Just thinking that such an actress is from our country fills me with pride,” Adhora said.
Adhora has never met Babita, which remains a regret. “I believe she is always there like a protective shadow over me,” she said.
Adhora is now in Toronto for advertising work and will soon begin a Bangladeshi film.
