Following the success of its inaugural edition, the New York Bangla Film Festival has announced its second edition for 2026 and invited filmmakers to submit their work.
The festival aims to promote Bangla culture and cinema on an international platform in New York.
Rock Paper Scissors Entertainment will organise the festival in collaboration with Priyojon Films and Lemon Studio, with support from the American Bangladeshi Producers Association (ABPA).
Bangla films will be screened in four categories: short films, documentaries, web films and feature-length films. Awards will be presented to the best works across the categories.
Producer Olive Ahmed, convener of the New York Bangla Film Festival 2026, said the organisers are working to create a platform for Bangla cinema in the United States.
He said they want to build on the response received by the first edition and noted that the festival has an experienced jury board.
Piklu Chowdhury is serving as festival director, while Tanvir Khayer is the programme director.
Member secretary Litu Anam said Bangla cinema has a rich history and the festival aims to recognise those who have contributed to its development.
He urged Bangladeshi filmmakers and producers to submit their best works made in 2026. Films of any duration can be submitted in MOV or MP4 format through a drive link sent to [email protected]. Submissions can also be made through the FilmFreeway platform.
The festival will be held in New York at the beginning of next year. The exact date and venue will be announced soon through the festival website and press releases.
