Singer and actor Mukul Jamil, a familiar face in Dhaka’s showbiz industry, died suddenly on Sunday night (13 September). His death has cast a shadow of grief over his colleagues and the wider cultural community.

The Actors’ Equity Guild, an organisation representing television actors, expressed deep sorrow over the death of its respected member. In a statement, the organisation paid tribute to Mukul Jamil and expressed respect for his departed soul.

Many other showbiz artists and technicians have also mourned his death on social media.

Singer and composer Mohammad Milon remembered Mukul in an emotional post, describing his sudden departure as deeply painful. He recalled how Mukul would embrace him whenever they met and kiss him on the forehead with affection.

Milon also revealed that Mukul, primarily a musician, first appeared as a model in his song ‘Selfie’ in a playful casting decision. He later acted in several more of Milon’s songs.

Mukul Jamil developed a special interest in Rabindra Sangeet from childhood. He entered the music industry with the help of his sister. During his long career, he worked on more than 30 mixed albums and released the solo album ‘Ami To Emoni’.

Alongside music, Mukul established himself as an actor. He appeared in various music videos, as well as television dramas and films.
