Prime Minister of Nepal Balendra Shah has expressed his sincere gratitude and deep appreciation to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for Bangladesh’s generous financial assistance of USD 1 million to support ongoing relief and humanitarian efforts following tragic flash floods in Nepal.
In an official letter dated 10 September 2026 addressed to PM Tarique Rahman in Dhaka, PM Shah thanked the Bangladeshi leader for his thoughtful message following the flash floods that struck Nepal on 26 August 2026.
He noted that the devastating floods, particularly impacting northern Nepal, caused a tragic loss of lives and extensive damage to homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods, leaving deep and lasting effects on local communities.
Conveying his deepest appreciation during a period of profound grief, PM Shah expressed confidence that Bangladesh’s USD 1 million contribution will be of great help as Nepal works to recover from the tragedy, deliver ongoing relief, and rebuild lives.
The Nepalese PM also extended sincere appreciation for the adoption of a Condolence Motion by the Bangladesh National Parliament on 27 August in memory of the flood victims.
He highlighted that this moving gesture reflects the genuine sympathy and solidarity of the people of Bangladesh towards Nepal.
Reaffirming the strong bilateral relationship, PM Shah stated that Nepal considers Bangladesh not only a close neighbour but also a dear friend bound by strong people-to-people ties.
He added that the kindness and support extended by Bangladesh in times of adversity have touched the nation deeply and will remain in their hearts.
