Disha Patani has once again found herself at the centre of social media attention, this time over her outfit at a Ganpati celebration in Mumbai, writes NDTV.

Known for her glamorous fashion choices, the actress attended the high-profile celebration in a striking red lehenga featuring intricate embroidery.

She paired it with a matching blouse with a plunging neckline and draped a red dupatta over one shoulder. Statement earrings, bangles and her loose hair completed the look.

Disha posed for photographers as she arrived at the event, but her outfit soon became a talking point online. While some admired her festive appearance, a section of social media users criticised the deep neckline of her blouse and questioned whether it was appropriate for a religious celebration.

“What kind of outrageous outfit for Ganapati celebrations? They should keep a dress code,” one user wrote.

Another commented, “Ganapati Bappa’s puja is deeply sacred to Hindus, so it should be celebrated with devotion, dignity & appropriate attire that honours our culture & traditions. But just look at Disha Patani’s outfit, she wore a revealing dress that exposed much of her body.”

A third user drew a comparison with Kriti Sanon, writing, “First Kriti Sanon and now Disha Patani – Is the dress she is wearing even appropriate dress for Ganpati Festival??”

Others were more direct in their criticism. “Look what Disha Patani is wearing while celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi,” one social media user remarked, while another called for a boycott of Bollywood.

One comment read, “A dress that demands attention but definitely not appropriate for a religious celebration.”

The backlash against Disha comes shortly after a similar controversy involving Kriti Sanon and a Raksha Bandhan advertisement. In August 2026, Kriti faced criticism over a campaign for jewellery brand GIVA, in which she wore an ivory bralette-style blouse with a cape and draped skirt.

The advertisement showed Kriti celebrating Raksha Bandhan and tying a rakhi to a dog. Some social media users questioned both her outfit and the portrayal of the festival. Following the backlash, GIVA removed the advertisement from its media platforms.
