National Citizens’ Party (NCP) leader Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has accused authorities of interfering with personal freedom under the pretext of seizing money ahead of the 13th national parliamentary election.
He made the allegations at a press conference at the party office in Banglamotor on Wednesday night.
“As money is being forcibly taken, individual freedom is being violated,” said Asif Mahmud.
He urged voters to reject candidates who attempt to buy votes with cash, stressing that the era of purchasing votes must end.
He further claimed that intelligence has surfaced regarding multiple acts of election-related sabotage. Supporters of BNP allegedly attacked and looted the home of Hannan Masud, yet authorities failed to intervene.
Asif Mahmud also alleged that weapons are being stockpiled in various locations ahead of the election.
He called for immediate joint force operations in areas where arms caches have been identified.
He criticised the media, claiming it has been monopolised by BNP interests. Journalists are reportedly being coerced, resulting in biased and irresponsible reporting.
“Tomorrow, such acts of information terrorism will not be tolerated,” he warned.
