National Citizen Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sojib Bhuyain said Radda MCH-FP Centre will not be allowed to face illegal occupation and that health workers will continue treating mothers and children amid the ruins.
Inspecting the damaged facility on Sunday, the Dhaka North City Corporation mayoral candidate demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in the attack, vandalism, and looting.
He also called for a neutral investigation, proper damage assessment, reconstruction of the health centre, and the quick restart of medical services.
Visiting the health centre alongside party leaders and activists, Asif Mahmud spoke with patients seeking medical care amidst the debris.
During the visit, NCP activists removed a signboard erected in front of the facility by illegal occupiers under the name “Samamona Dokandar Samity.”
Asif Mahmud noted that medicine, vaccines, injections, and medical equipment were stolen, stressing that such destruction of a public healthcare facility is entirely unacceptable.
Alleging institutional involvement, he described the incident as a coordinated crime involving political figures, civic administrators, and law enforcement.
“This is not an isolated incident,” Asif Mahmud said. “This is a united and organised crime involving the BNP MP, City Corporation Administrator, and local police. This is an organised crime by several state institutions and loot carried out under state sponsorship.”
He further claimed that the police officers present at the scene withdrew when the vandalism began and returned only after the incident ended.
Demanding action against negligent officers as well as the perpetrators, he warned, “If you do not take any form of justice and action within a short period, we will consider that everyone, starting from the prime minister down, is aware of this and everyone will get a share.”
Reaffirming resistance against the takeover, Asif Mahmud added, “Radda Clinic will not be allowed to be occupied. Healthcare workers will provide treatment to mothers and children amidst the ruins.”
He urged the government to urgently form a neutral probe committee to conduct a full investigation into the attack, bring all culprits to justice, properly assess damages, rebuild the health centre, and quickly restart medical operations.
