Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Minister Abdul Moyeen Khan has said a group is spreading falsehoods along with misusing power by taking advantage of the freedom of Facebook and press.
He urged everyone to remain alert so that no one can spread falsehoods taking advantage of press freedom.
The minister made these remarks while speaking as chief guest at a ceremony held on Saturday at Palash Upazila Hallroom in Narsingdi to distribute cash assistance and sewing machines among helpless, destitute individuals, as well as school bags among various educational institutions.
Moyeen said BNP believes in an accountable government and came into government after being elected through a democratic process, not through any fake votes.
He added that a handful of people in the country who resort to lies and deception to spread falsehoods by taking advantage of social media platform Facebook will not be allowed to do so.
The minister said BNP does not practise the politics of vengeance, but the politics of law, warning that those who misuse the law will not escape the hand of the law.
Presided over by Palash Upazila Executive Officer Ishtiaque Ahmed, the function was also attended by Executive Engineer of Narsingdi LGED Mohammad Fulkam Badsha, Palash Upazila BNP President Abdus Sattar, General Secretary Saiful Hoque, and Pourashava BNP President Alam Mollah, alongside various other leaders.
