The depression over the North Andaman Sea and adjoining Myanmar coast has moved north-northwestward and intensified into a deep depression and is currently persisting over the area.
It may move further in a north-northwesterly direction.
The monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and remains moderate over the North Bay of Bengal.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) issued the weather forecast at 6pm on Monday. It said light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds may occur at a few places in Chattogram Division.
Elsewhere in the country, the weather may remain mainly dry with temporarily partly cloudy skies. Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged across the country.
The forecast from 9am on Tuesday said light to moderate rain is likely at many places in Chattogram Division and at one or two places in Sylhet Division, with moderately heavy falls likely at places in Chattogram Division.
The maritime ports of Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar have been advised to keep Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 hoisted, the forecast said.
