Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal has warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found involved in irregularities or corruption while collecting data for Family Cards and Farmer Cards in Durgapur, Netrokona.
He said he would even file a case himself if corruption in the process was proven.
Kamal made the remarks on Thursday during an views exchange with data collectors and supervisors engaged in the Family Card survey at the Durgapur Upazila Parishad auditorium.
Officials of the local administration, elected representatives and political leaders attended the meeting.
The deputy speaker said the benefits of the government’s welfare programmes must reach genuine beneficiaries through a transparent process.
He stressed that genuine farmers and disadvantaged families should be identified and included so they can receive the benefits of the cards.
“Data must be collected accurately, rising above political affiliations,” he told the data collectors.
He instructed them to begin the survey at the grassroots level and include families living in makeshift shelters, huts and even those without homes.
Warning against irregularities, Kamal said any corruption in the Family Card and Farmer Card data collection process would be dealt with strictly.
“If corruption is proven, I will, if necessary, file a case myself as the complainant,” he said.
Following the meeting, the deputy speaker distributed mobile tablets to data collectors involved in the Family Card survey.
