Reflecting on the nation’s democratic struggles and the Liberation War, the prime minister noted that his father took part in the war, in which people of all faiths, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, and Christian, fought side by side.

He added that people across religious lines similarly participated in 1990 and 2024 mass movements.

“When we did not consider religion during the nation’s critical moments, why should we consider religion in other matters? We liberated the country together, and everyone participated in the movement to establish democracy,” the prime minister remarked.

He also recalled the persecution suffered by activists of different religions during the regime of Awami League, pointing out that his Hindu party workers faced the exact same torture and oppression as his Muslim workers, with no distinction based on religion.
