Dr Khondaker Golam Moazzem, a distinguished economist, policy analyst, and development practitioner, has assumed office as President of Knowledge Hub Institute Trust, effective October 2026.
Knowledge Hub Institute (KHI) is a think-and-do tank that has started working on four core streams: clean energy, macroeconomic and public finance management, finance and banking, and employment and skills development.
Dr Moazzem brings over two decades of professional experience in economic research, public policy, and institutional development.
Widely regarded as one of Bangladesh’s leading policy researchers, he has made significant contributions to national policy discourse through his work on industrial development, trade and investment, labour markets, private sector competitiveness, energy transition, social protection, and sustainable development.
Prior to assuming his role at KHI, Dr Moazzem served as Research Director at the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), where he played a pivotal role in shaping the institution’s research agenda and strengthening engagement with policymakers, development partners, business leaders, and civil society stakeholders.
During his long association with the organisation, he led numerous influential research initiatives and policy dialogues that contributed to informed decision-making and policy reforms in Bangladesh.

Dr Moazzem holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Area Studies from Kyoto University, Japan, and earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in economics from the University of Dhaka.
Throughout his academic and professional career, he has combined rigorous scholarship with practical policy engagement, earning recognition for his analytical expertise and intellectual leadership.
His professional and research work has covered a wide range of development and economic policy issues, including manufacturing competitiveness, small and medium enterprise development, labour rights and employment generation, renewable energy, climate change and energy transition, international trade, private investment, and social protection.
He has also contributed to various advisory and consultative capacities with government institutions, business associations, development organisations, and international agencies, contributing to policy formulation and institutional reforms across multiple sectors.
As President of Knowledge Hub Institute, Dr Moazzem will provide strategic leadership in advancing the Institute’s mission of promoting research excellence, policy innovation, knowledge dissemination, and capacity development.
In his new role, he will oversee the Institute’s strategic priorities, research programmes, partnerships, and outreach activities, marking a significant milestone in the continued growth of Knowledge Hub Institute.
