Midland Bank PLC (MDB) organised its “Half-Yearly Strategic Conference 2026” on Saturday at the Fortis Downtown Resort in Dhaka.
The conference served as a platform for the bank’s leadership and key officials to review business performance for the first half of the year and formulate strategies to achieve targets for the remaining months.
The event was graced by Midland Bank PLC Board of Directors Chairman Ahsan Khan Chowdhury as the Chief Guest. The business sessions were inaugurated and chaired by Managing Director & CEO of the bank Imtiaz Uddin Ahmed, reads a press release.
In his inaugural address, Imtiaz highlighted the bank’s achievements during the first half of 2026. He emphasised the necessity of customer-centric service, sustainable business growth, and strict regulatory compliance.
He further stressed the importance of recovering non-performing loans and maintaining high asset quality to meet the bank’s strategic objectives.
During the sessions, Chief Financial Officer Didarul Islam presented the bank’s overall financial performance, while Head of Treasury & Market Risk Sushanta Sekhar Deb reviewed treasury business operations.
Area Heads provided detailed analyses of their respective regions, focusing on profitability, deposit mix, and recovery performance. The conference also featured reviews of Agent Banking, Cards, and Bancassurance, alongside strategic presentations from both high-performing and lower-performing branch managers to foster operational excellence.
The afternoon session included a performance review of the Institutional Banking Division (IBD) by its head, Md Javed Tarek Khan.
Subsequently, Deputy Managing Director & CTO Md Nazmul Huda Sarkar led interactive discussions on functional areas including Operations, MIS, and Information Security.
Participants also deliberated on Credit Risk Management, AML, and Special Asset Management to strengthen the bank’s operational efficiency.
In the evening, Chairman Ahsan Khan Chowdhury delivered a motivational speech, encouraging staff to remain committed to innovation, teamwork, and excellence.
A recognition ceremony followed, where outstanding employees were honoured with crests, certificates, cash rewards, and promotions for their contributions to the bank’s success.
The conference concluded with a Friendly Football Tournament aimed at strengthening camaraderie, where the Head Office Team emerged as the Champion and the Sub-Branch Team took the Runner-up spot.
