The ICC and Cricket South Africa will unveil the schedule for the 2027 World Cup in Cape Town on Thursday, October 1, marking the one-year countdown to the tournament.
The event will also launch the ticket ballot for the tournament. Fans will be able to register for the ballot from October 1, although tickets will not go on immediate sale.
The 2027 World Cup is scheduled to begin on October 2 next year and will run until November 21. South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will host the tournament.
Ten of the 14 teams will be known by the September 30 qualification cut-off. Hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe will take two places, while eight teams will qualify through the ICC ODI rankings.
India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Australia, England, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh are currently in line for those eight ranking places.
Bangladesh, ranked ninth, are set to qualify because third-ranked South Africa already have a place as hosts. The West Indies, who are currently playing an ODI series in India, will need to qualify through the tournament scheduled for early next year.
Namibia are also among the hosts but have not yet secured qualification.
The ICC has divided the 2027 World Cup into three stages before the semi-finals and final.
The tournament will begin with a Super Series involving the three lowest-ranked teams among the 14 qualified sides. They will play each other once, with the group winner advancing to the next stage.
Round 2 will feature 12 teams split into two groups of six. The groups will produce 30 matches, with the top three from each group advancing along with the next best-placed team across both groups.
Those seven teams will then enter the Super 7 stage, which will feature 21 round-robin matches.
The top four teams from the Super 7 standings will reach the semi-finals. The top-ranked team will face fourth place, while second place will meet third place.
The two semi-final winners will then contest the World Cup final on November 21.
