Michael Olise scored a brilliant late goal as France beat Belgium 1-0 in the UEFA Nations League in Brussels on Tuesday.
The result gave Zinedine Zidane his second win in as many games since taking charge of France. Zidane made nine changes from the team that beat Turkiye. France were also without Kylian Mbappe, who missed the game with a knee injury.
France created several chances but struggled to find the breakthrough. Desire Doue was one of their main threats. He had five attempts and hit the crossbar. Debutant Lucas da Cunha also struck the post.
Belgium caused problems through Mika Godts and Dodi Lukebakio, but France kept them out. Zidane brought Olise on in the 77th minute, and the Bayern Munich winger made the difference late on.
The winning goal finally arrived in the 88th minute. Olise controlled the ball on his shoulder inside his own half before racing forward. He got away from a defender and calmly finished into the bottom corner.
The goal secured another win for Zidane and kept France perfect after two Nations League matches. France remain top of Group A1 and will next face Italy on Saturday. Belgium will take on Turkiye.
