Members of Armed Police Battalion (APBN) have rescued a missing Rohingya woman from Leda Bazar in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.

The woman was identified as Al Mostafa, 19. Additional Deputy Inspector General (Addl DIG) Md Kawsar Sikdar, Commander of 16 APBN, confirmed the rescue on Tuesday noon.

She was rescued from in front of Leda Tower in Teknaf upazila late on Tuesday night.

Al Mostafa went missing around 9:30pm on Monday from Shalbagan Rohingya Camp.

After receiving information about her disappearance, an APBN team led by Police Inspector Mohammad Monjurul Abchar, in-charge of Shalbagan APBN Camp, conducted a drive in front of Leda Tower and rescued her. She was then taken to the police camp.

During initial questioning, Al Mostafa provided multiple addresses. Officers searched adjacent camps, identified her parents and confirmed her identity as the missing woman.

He said interrogation and discussions with her parents revealed that she had been suffering from mental instability for a long time.

As her parents did not lodge any formal complaint, Al Mostafa was safely handed over to her family.

A General Diary (GD) was recorded regarding the incident at Shalbagan APBN Camp.
