England will be Bangladesh’s first opponents at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, with the two sides set to meet in Windhoek on October 8.

The International Cricket Council announced the full schedule for the World Cup on Thursday. South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will jointly host the tournament.

Bangladesh have been placed in Group B alongside South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, England and Qualifier B. After facing England, Bangladesh will travel to South Africa for their remaining four group matches. Their second game will be against New Zealand in KuGompo City on October 12.

Sri Lanka will face Bangladesh in Durban on October 16 before the Tigers meet hosts South Africa at the same venue on October 19. Bangladesh will complete their group-stage campaign against Qualifier B in Tshwane on October 23.

Group A includes India, Australia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and Qualifier A. The World Cup will officially begin on October 2 with the three-team Super Series in Windhoek. The group stage will start on October 7 when defending champions Australia face India in Cape Town.

The tournament will feature 14 teams. South Africa and Zimbabwe qualified automatically as hosts, while the top eight teams in the ICC ODI rankings at the September 30, 2026 cut-off also secured direct qualification. Four more teams will come through the World Cup Qualifier and Super Series.

The top three teams from each group will qualify for the Super 7 stage. The better of the two fourth-placed teams will also progress. All seven teams will start the Super 7 stage with zero points and play six matches each from October 25 to November 14.

Bangladesh have not been given a pre-seeded position for the Super 7. If they qualify by replacing one of the pre-seeded teams, they will take that team’s allocated position in the schedule.

For example, if Bangladesh progress and Sri Lanka fail to qualify, Bangladesh will take the B3 position. In that case, they would begin the Super 7 stage against Australia in Johannesburg on October 25.

The top four teams from the Super 7 will advance to the semi-finals. Cape Town will host the first semi-final on November 17, while the second will take place in Tshwane on November 18. The final is scheduled for November 21 in Johannesburg.

A total of 12 venues across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will stage matches during the tournament.
