International Crimes Tribunal has directed prison authorities to submit latest medical report regarding journalist Mozammel Haque Babu’s prostate cancer treatment within seven days.
International Crimes Tribunal-2 passed the order on Thursday following an application by the defence.
Lawyer Hamidul Mishbah conducted the hearing on behalf of the defence.
He informed TIMES that Mozammel Babu has been suffering from prostate cancer since 2023. A medical test regarding this was conducted in 2025.
However, the report of that test was not provided to the defence. The court directed the prison authorities to submit that report to the tribunal within seven days.
Mozammel Haque Babu, former chief editor and managing director of Ekattor Television, was arrested on 17 September 2024 from Dhobaura border in Mymensingh.
It was reported at the time that he was detained whilst attempting to flee to India following the fall of Sheikh Hasina government in the July mass uprising. He has been in prison since then.
Apart from crimes against humanity cases filed against Mozammel Babu over allegations of the Shapla Chattar mass killing and incitement during the July mass uprising, multiple cases on charges of extortion and murder have been filed against him.
