Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff have responded to show-cause notices issued by the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) over their appearance in a Vimal Elaichi advertisement.
According to Hindustan Times, Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe said all three actors had submitted their responses. Two of them also requested hearings, which were completed on Monday. The regulator will now proceed with the matter.
The FDA issued the notices in August, alleging that the advertisement could amount to surrogate promotion of Vimal Pan Masala, which is prohibited in Maharashtra.
The actors were asked to explain their roles as brand endorsers and provide details of their endorsement agreements and related documents.
Mundhe has said advertising regulations place responsibility on endorsers to ensure that promotional claims comply with applicable rules.
The FDA’s proceedings are continuing, and no final decision has been announced.
