A proposal to apply “Accreditation by Recognition” under ‘BAC Act 2022’ for internationally accredited universities in Bangladesh was presented at a symposium on business school accreditation hosted by Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB),said a press release on Saturday.
The proposal was made by IUB Department of Management Head and AACSB and ACBSP Principal Contact Person Md Mamun Habib during his keynote titled “From Local Excellence to Global Recognition: The Role of International Accreditation.” He presented a comparative analysis of AACSB, ACBSP and BAC standards.
Habib is also the Virtual Ambassador of AACSB International, ACBSP Evaluator and Chair of the Member Relations Committee of ACBSP International.
The symposium, held at DMK Lecture Gallery on 1 October, was organised by IUB’s Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and focused on the role of international accreditation in strengthening academic quality, institutional recognition and the global competitiveness of business schools.
Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) Chairman Akther Hossain Khan attended as chief guest.
A sharing session titled “Why International Accreditation Matters: Quality, Recognition, and Global Competitiveness” allowed participants to exchange perspectives, moderated by Md Mamun Habib.
The event brought together representatives from 16 universities, including BRAC University, North South University, American International University-Bangladesh, Daffodil International University, United International University, International University of Business Agriculture and Technology, World University of Bangladesh, Bangladesh University of Professionals, Jahangirnagar University, State University of Bangladesh, City University, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology, International University of Scholars, Leading University, Sylhet, and Uttara University.
The event served as a platform for academic leaders and accreditation professionals to discuss strengthening quality assurance and advancing business education through national and international accreditation frameworks, the press release added.
