On Thursday morning, following the daily assembly, students had returned to their respective classrooms. At around 10:15am, Nahid Sheikh entered the classroom under the pretext of meeting his cousin Atiqur.

Once inside, he dragged Habib from his bench, held him by the neck, punched and kicked him, and lifted him into the air twice before slamming him onto the floor in front of frightened classmates.

As the terrified students began screaming, teachers rushed to the spot. Headmaster Biswajit Ghosh escorted Nahid to his office and immediately alerted the police. Officers from Sirajdikhan Police Station arrived shortly afterwards and took Nahid into custody.

Md Alauddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sirajdikhan Police Station, confirmed that the assault stemmed from Wednesday’s altercation between the two students, adding that legal proceedings and the filing of a case against the detainee are currently underway.

School authorities, teachers, parents, and managing committee guardian member Jahangir Alam expressed deep indignation over the incident, with the headmaster demanding strict legal action against the perpetrator.
