ICT sets 6 Dec hearing for Farhad Hossain, Nahidul Islam

The International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Sunday fixed 6 December for the next hearing in a crimes against humanity case against former public administration minister Farhad Hossain and former deputy inspector general AKM Nahidul Islam.

The case was filed over several killings, including that of former Meherpur district Islami Chhatra Shibir president Tarek Mohammad Saiful Islam.

Prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim represented the prosecution at the hearing.

Farhad Hossain and AKM Nahidul Islam were produced before the tribunal from prison after 10am.

Earlier, the prosecution sought to show Farhad Hossain, who had already been arrested in another case, as arrested in the crimes against humanity case.

After hearing the application, the tribunal on 24 August 2025 ordered that he be sent to prison in the case.

Following the fall of the Awami League government in the 5 August 2024 mass uprising, three murder cases were filed against Farhad Hossain with different police stations in Meherpur and another with Adabor Police Station in Dhaka.

Several more cases were later filed against him in Dhaka.

Farhad Hossain was arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) from the capital’s Eskaton area on the night of 14 September 2024.
