The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir departed Dhaka for Thailand on Sunday afternoon to attend a regional summit focused on “Scam Centre Compounds and Transnational Organised Crime”.
The summit is scheduled to be held in the Thai capital, Bangkok, from 20 to 21 July. It is being organised by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in collaboration with the Royal Thai Police.
The conference will feature detailed discussions on establishing effective operational coordination, formulating regional strategies, and adopting integrated joint initiatives to address the escalating threats posed by scam centre compounds and transnational criminal syndicates.
High-ranking police officials, including the heads of police and intelligence agencies from various countries across the Asia-Pacific region, will be in attendance.
In addition to participating in the summit, the Bangladesh police chief is expected to hold a meeting with the head of the Royal Thai Police to exchange views on matters of mutual interest.
The IGP is scheduled to return to Bangladesh on 22 July.
