Redoan Rony’s psychological thriller ‘Domm’ is continuing its strong run following its Eid-ul-Fitr release, earning praise from both audiences and critics for Afran Nisho’s standout performance and the film’s gripping narrative.
Building on its domestic success, the film has now expanded into the international market, screening across seven cities in the US. The initial rollout includes theatres in New York (Queens), Los Angeles (North Hollywood and Monroe Valley), California’s Chino Hills, and Arizona locations such as Tempe and Chandler, marking a significant overseas push for a contemporary Bangladeshi release.
Distributors say audience response abroad has been encouraging. Raj Hamid, head of US-based Bioscope Films, which is handling distribution, said early feedback and advance bookings prompted the expansion beyond the original plan.
“We initially intended to release it only in New York and Los Angeles,” he said. “But due to the positive response, we have expanded to seven cities. Advance ticket sales have also been strong.”
The film is also set to release in Canada on April 17, followed by further screenings across multiple US states including Texas, Florida, Massachusetts, California, Washington DC, Virginia, Michigan and Georgia. Additional locations are expected to be added depending on demand.
At home, Domm continues its theatrical run in Bangladesh into its fourth week. Inspired by a real-life incident, the film marks Redoan Rony’s third directorial venture and is jointly produced by SVF Alpha-i Entertainment Limited and Chorki.
The ensemble cast includes Afran Nisho, Puja Cherry, Chanchal Chowdhury and Dolly Zahur, with the screenplay developed by Redoan Rony alongside Rabiul Alam Robi, Syed Ahmed Shawki, Al-Amin Hasan Nirjhar and Md Saifullah Riyad.
