The Eid-ul-Adha release Masud Rana has expanded its theatrical run across Bangladesh, opening in more cinemas nationwide with a revised version of the action-thriller. Directed by Saikat Nasir, the film is now being screened simultaneously in 32 theatres across the country from Friday.
Based on the iconic spy character created by renowned Bangladeshi novelist Kazi Anwar Hossain, Masud Rana brings one of Bengali literature’s most celebrated fictional heroes to the big screen. Newcomer Russell Rana plays the titular role in the film, which has been running in various multiplexes around the country over the past two weeks since its release.
Director Saikat Nasir said the film has now been released in several major cinema halls, including Blockbuster Cinemas, Lion Cinemas and Shyamoli Cinemas in Dhaka. Outside the capital, the film is being screened at a number of popular venues, including Monihar in Jashore, Rupkotha in Pabna, Chhayabani in Mymensingh, Mom Inn in Bogura, Ariruchi in Barishal and Sangeet in Khulna.
Producer Abdul Aziz said some technical and presentation-related inconsistencies remained in the film during its initial release period due to the busy Eid season. After reviewing audience feedback and the overall presentation, those issues have been addressed and corrected in the latest version.
He expressed hope that viewers watching the film this week will enjoy a more polished and refined cinematic experience.
In the film, Puja Cherry stars opposite Russell Rana as Sohana, while Syeda Towhida Haque Tithi appears as Obonita. The cast also includes Gazi Rakayet, Tiger Robi, Masum Bashar and Zeba Jannat in important roles.
