A workshop titled “Capital Market Insights: Empowering the Next Generation of Investors” was held at Bangladesh University (BU) to enhance students’ awareness of the capital market and expand their knowledge of investment-related issues.

The workshop was organised by the Bangladesh Academy for Securities Markets (BASM) in collaboration with the university’s Department of Business Administration and Bangladesh University Business Club (BUBC), reads a press release.

The event took place at the university hall room on Wednesday.

Md Jahangir Alam, vice-chancellor of Bangladesh University, attended the programme as the chief guest.
Brig Gen Md Mahbubul Haque (retd), registrar of the university, was present as the special guest.

The workshop was chaired by Md Mujakkirul Huda, head of the Department of Business Administration.
Resource persons included BASM Director General Kamrul Anam Khan, FCMA (FCMA); faculty member Nipa Saha (Faculty Grade-3); and Md Saddam Hossain Khan (Faculty Grade-5).

Speakers discussed the structure of Bangladesh’s capital market, fundamental concepts of investment, risk management, financial literacy, and the importance of responsible investment for the younger generation.

In a special session, BASM faculty member Saddam highlighted various practical aspects of the capital market. He explained the stages of the Initial Public Offering (IPO) and listing process.

He also discussed information analysis and risk assessment techniques before investment under the “Three Filter Theory for Calculative Risk Management” and provided practical insights into technical analysis, including chart patterns, trend analysis, support levels, and resistance levels for evaluating price movements in the stock market.

Addressing the programme, VC Jahangir said that alongside academic education, financial and investment-related knowledge would play an important role in students’ professional lives in today’s competitive world.

He expressed hope that such workshops would contribute to enhancing students’ skills and awareness.

A quiz competition based on the topics discussed during the workshop was also held, with attractive prizes awarded to participants who provided correct answers.

A large number of students from different departments of the university took part in the programme and engaged directly with experts during the question-and-answer session.
